Products for Environmental and Technology Development

Activities History

Here are presented some of the main services performed by LIBROS System in Brazil.

Development of Management Plans for Reserves, Parks and Flooded Areas

Reserves and Parks

Parque BocainaThe company, through the multidisciplinary team, has a vast experience on the management plans development for reserves, forest parks and flooded areas conservation which aims to establish guidelines for the activities conduct in the conservation unit.

The main experiences related to the participation on the management plans development in Brazil are:

  • Management plan for Serra da Bocaína National Park (PNSB)
  • Ipiranga’s Sources State Park
  • Tietê’s Springs State Park
  • Hydroeletric Dams Environmental Management Plan (Ilha Solteira, Jupiá and Três Irmãos)
  • Partial implementation of Ecological Reserves Juréia-Itatins Mosaic’s Conservation Units Management Plans

Flooded Areas

Área AlagadaIn flooded areas, LIBROS System has already developed and surveyed information for Aquatic Plants Management Plan for some CESP’s Hydroeletric Reservoirs.

  • Souza Dias Hydroeletric Reservoirs Plants
  • Ilha Solteira Hydroeletric Reservoirs Plants
  • Três Irmãos Hydroeletric Reservoirs Plants

Mapping and Geoprocessing Activities

Parque Bocaina TThe geoprocessing and mapping activities are fundamental stages to any environmental, agricultural or marine assessment work. The company count on experienced technicians in the different Geographic Information Systems (GIS), such as Geomedia Professional, ArcGis, MapInfo and Idrisi, beyond digital image processing systems, such as Erdas and Envi.

Many institutions have already used the services, such as:

Parque Bocaina
  • Industries in sugar-alcohol sector, as COSAN S/A
  • Hidroeletric Power Plants, as Porto-Primavera in São Paulo’s west, were was made the mapping of the Reservoir Region Influence
  • Cubatão’s refinery, where was mapped the physical environment around the installations, resulting on the derivation of various maps synthesis

Diagnostics and Environmental Zonings

Parque BocainaDiagnosis and environmental zoning are important documents and information for the control and management of industrial plants and its relationship with the surroundings. These knowledge enable the definition of proactive and preventive actions that help the decision-makers in physical environment, socio-environmental, productive and government issues.

LIBROS System drew up diagnostics and environmental zonings for Petrobras’ installations in the state of São Paulo, in partnership with FBDS.

    Parque Bocaina
  • REPLAN - Paulínia’s refinery
  • REVAP - São José dos Campos’ refinery
  • RPBC - Cubatão’s refinery
  • TEBAR – São Sebatião’s terminal
  • TTGRR - Guararema’s terminal
  • Pipelines

There are many products that can be derived from a Diagnostic and Zoning, like identification of environmental fragility areas, susceptibility to erosion, vegetation and agricultural potential, etc.

Environmental Education, Courses and Training

Staff’s improvement is an essential factor to any institution; cause only thus will be possible to make the correct use of available information and technologies. LIBROS System in association with specialized consultants offers training to spread the environmental conservation knowledge and its current problems through courses and environmental educators training. Moreover, the staff offers courses and training in geographic information systems use, geoprocessing, remote sensing and the influences on the products developed use.

Have already been developed trainings for GIS and Geographic Database use for:

  • Cubatão’s refinery (RPBC)
  • São Paulo’s Botany Institute
  • Environmental Planning Laboratory – FEC/UNICAMP

In environmental education area was implemented a course of environmental educators vocational training to ITA Consortium - Energy Generation Sector.

Terrestrial Dynamic Mapping

Environmental Videography

Parque BocainaLIBROS System is the pioneer in development of videography technology for environmental assessments, that is a by-product of terrestrial dynamic mapping and enables the identification of localized problems, like pollution points, local susceptible to erosion, illegal constructions, AMONG OTHERS. It also serves as a tool to emergency actions monitoring and control, environmental recovering, carbon market and environmental impacts identification on detail scaile. The technology is easy to use and doesn’t requires much knowledge in software operation. Beyond the occurrences identification, the company acts in the study and proposal of actions to mitigate phenomena observed study and proposal.

Parque Bocaina The technology has already been applied to the iddentification of events in sections of Petrobrás’ pipeline, that connect Guararema’s terminals, Paulínia’s refinery, São Sebastião’s terminal and Cubatão’s refinery.

The environmental videography was also used in water bodies linear monitoring by request of SANASA - Campinas, in order to do the recognition of events along Atibaia and Pinheiros rivers, where were identified and characterized the environmental impacts, as well as their sources.

Technical Reports of Environmental Quality

Parque BocainaLIBROS System’s consultants and partners body develops technical reports of environmental quality evaluation for enterprises in marine and coastal regions.

Effects the collection, analysis and interpretation of hydrochemistry and geochemistry data of marine and coastal environments (nutrients, heavy metals and oil’s hydrocarbons), having experience in embarked works.

Among the work already developed by the staff, there are the following projects:

  • Environmental assessment report of TRANSPETRO’s stretch of the 28 south marine duct, in Tramandaí/RS.
  • Environmental assessments regarding the hydrography of the PETROBRAS's pipeline area - OSPAR - between Santa Catarina and Paraná.
  • Water quality assessment for the construction of Ferries Moorings, in São José do Norte, state of Rio Grande do Sul.
  • Dredging monitoring in Rio Grande’s Port, state of Rio Grande do Sul, requested by the Port Superintendence.
